Amar Seva Sangam

Amar Seva Sangam serves the physically and mentally challenged by offering them food, clothing and shelter, and by conducting various rehabilitation programs for them. At the local Saraswathi Vidhyalaya School, physically disadvantaged children study till the 8th grade, alongside regular students.
Further, for physically challenged students who wish to continue their studies, special transport facilities have been arranged.
The center for the mentally challenged gathers children with special needs from the surrounding villages and trains them to function independently.
So far, the organization has distributed 675 new artificial limbs, and 3363 refurbished artificial limbs and mobility devices. The organization helps with the early diagnosis of children with birth defects, polio and other afflictions, and offers medical advice and guidance.
Primarily rural in its presence, the Sangam offers vocational courses for young adults in sewing, computer use, typing, printing, photocopying and book publishing. Further, it regroups unemployed youth with special needs and creates localized self-employment possibilities for them.
Operating under the leadership of Mr. Ramakrishnan and under the management of Mr. Sankar Raman, Amar Seva Sangam plays a vital role in instilling confidence and self-reliance among the physically disadvantaged of its community.
