This Trust has two focuses –
education for the visually impaired and broad ranging charity.
To benefit the blind, the trust
has arranged for popular books to be made available in Braille, for example,
Wings of Fire by Dr. APJ, Abdul Kalam, etc.
120 students receive educational
sponsorship from this trust.
The charity wing of this trust
regularly organizes medical camps in villages, rescue operations in disaster
struck areas, etc. A physiotherapy center has been started in T Nagar, Chennai,
and free care is offered to the needy. The elderly and the physically
challenged receive physiotherapy at the comfort of their homes.
With a general interest in
community welfare, and specific focus on education, Maitree is run by Mr. Sridhar, a person who lost both his
legs. With help and support from friends, Sridhar is working to make Maitree an
exemplary institution.
