Sharanalayam
is an institution that focuses on two main areas – shelter and care for
orphaned or abandoned children, and empowerment of women through vocational
training and support for self-employment.
Specifically, Sharanalayam has achieved the
following:
- · Establishment of Vivekananda Educational Institution
- · Free sewing classes for economically underprivileged women
- · Distribution of mobility devices for the physically challenged
- · Assisting women in achieving economic independence
- · Mental health practices and personality skills training for children
- · Attempt to create public use establishments like libraries, community halls etc.
60 children are cared for at the shelter run here. Sharanalayam
is run by Mr. Kuzhandaivelu and Mrs. Kasturi Kuzhandaivelu.
