S.P. Jagadeeshwaran

Mr. S.P. Jagadeeshwaran is involved in spreading awareness about eye donation. Deeply stirred by the plight of the visually impaired, he began his campaign by donating the eyes of his grandmother after her demise. Since then, he has helped harvest over 300 pairs of eyes from deceased donors.

Campaigning for eye donation has often been a difficult challenge for Mr. Jagadeeshwaran. Campaigning usually involves meeting relatives of the deceased and explaining to them the importance of donating eyes.  In Mr. Jagadeeshwaran's experience, such encounters have often turned violent.

Recipient of several recognitions including the Arima award, Mr. Jagadeeshwaran is involved in other social causes apart from his primary interest, including helping poor young women and widows get married, financing education of poor students, etc.
