Swayam
is a group that promotes self-reliance, education and employment opportunities
for homeless children who have taken to living on the streets.
Swayam
routinely networks with other social work organizations that have a similar
agenda. In particular, they work with “Siragu” a school that focuses
exclusively on homeless street children.
In
the event of natural calamities, Swayam joins rescue groups to offer first aid,
basic needs, medical camps etc to those affected.
Being
aware of the importance of preserving nature, Swayam is maintaining 1000
saplings that it has planted in the campus of a hospital facility in Tambaram,
Chennai.
Swayam
has formed groups like Deeksha, Rakshat, Siragu and Shiny in order to help the
homeless regain confidence, learn self reliance and life skills, and have an
opportunity for a normal, fulfilling life.
