Sakhya Home

The Sakhya Home is run by Mr. Jayasridhar, and is providing shelter and care to 45 children, consisting of 23 girls and 22 boys, orphaned or displaced by the 2004 tsunami. The home runs under the philosophy of long term security, healing and care for children who often face the worst challenges after natural calamities.

Mr. Jayasridhar has constantly held education for children as an important mandate. He also helps youngsters prepare for state exams like TNPSC, UPSC and help them secure jobs in the government. He also runs educational camps for children during summer holidays.

In 1993, Mr. Jayasridhar established a People's Rehabilitation Center that offered various trainings to students. He also worked with the Nagarjuna Training Center at Nagpur, with whose help Jayasridhar established the Sakhya Home. Today, the home is helping at least a few tsunami-displaced children heal and look forward to the possibility of a secure life.
