Amuda Shanthi

Amuda Shanthi of Madurai is a driving force in her city behind the empowerment and rehabilitation of people with physical challenges. In her spare time after work, Amuda Shanthi seeks out rural women with physical impairments and motivates, counsels and mentors them, and helps educated women find suitable employment.
Amuda Shanthi has established a center to promote her cause, and brings together persons with such challenges to form support groups, and organizes vocational trainings for them, making self employment possible.
Understanding the importance of family support, Amuda routinely addresses families and colleagues of impaired women and sensitizes them towards the issues that the women face.
Born without an arm herself, Amuda Shanthi is a great inspiration to other women like herself. She helps these women regain their self-confidence, and prepares them to face life with positivity and optimism.
