Iniya Udayam



Iniya Udayam is a people's welfare group centered in Ayapakkam village near Avadi, Chennai. The group works with the children of the village and encourages them in creative thinking, art and theater, sports, stress-relief practices like meditation, and evening classes for extra help with studies.

Summer camps are also run, with classes in art, dance, crafts and also in technical skills like computer education. The group also focuses on education for women and in environmental awareness for the general public.

Run by sisters Komala and Sujatha, Iniya Udayam is trying to take holistic education to rural areas, and is working to create well-rounded, well-educated citizens for the future.
