Founded
in 1989, the Nungambakkam Friends Service Trust was conceived by a group of
friends who met in Pachaiyappan College, Chennai.
This
trust has adopted the Nungambakkam government high school and is involved in
its maintenance and upkeep. The trust also runs a night school in the premises
of the school.
The
trust motivates students and stimulates their interest in education by
frequently organizing narration and oratory events, debates and competitions
during festival seasons. Apart from academic education, the trust leads the
students into social awareness, participation and community service. Also,
cultural, moral and patriotic values are inculcated in the students.
The
Nungambakkam Friends Service Trust is run by Mohanasekar, Venkatesh, Hari,
Madan, and Sivakumar, with the help and support of other friends.
The
trust is an example of the power of likeminded adults determined to bring about
a change in society.
